New York 2011

We got back from our weekend in New York last night. What a great 3 day getaway for Jim and I! We were able to spend some real quality time with Kath, Peter, Daniel, and Audrey (and I was also able to hint to both of them that we are anxious for another family wedding soon - lol). 

Highlights of the trip inlcude the awesome food, beers, tour of nbc studios, walk through central park, the wedding, and spending time with the family. The hotel was in a great location right near 5th avenue and times square. We did a lot of walking and taking pictures - typical tourists. Having only been our 2nd time to New York, it was literally shocking to be on the street with so many people!!

Berkley Days!

After going to the Berkley Days fair last year, it became an automatic, must-do, annual tradition. This year it was rainy and overcast but Kaitlyn and I decided to brave the weather and headed off to the fair last weekend. We had so much fun! I always try to treasure these special one-on-one moments :)

Who do I complain to?...spring musical

I think I experienced one of my first real "school-related" frustrations last week. After weeks and weeks of build up and excitement, the night finally came for Kaitlyn's spring musical. After dropping her in her classroom so they could line up, we made our way to fellowship hall to find our seats. First sign the night wasn't going to run smoothly - there were no seats available. 

Try to stand in a hot, jam-packed-with-parents room with a 20-month-old who won't sit still..I tightened my grip on McKenna. Determined to keep her still and quiet so we could watch her sister's performance. The kids filed into the hall. There was hope! Kaitlyn was so excited, I got this shot...

But as they found their spots, I quickly realized I. could. not. see. her!!! I stood on my tip-toes, I lugged McKenna to the other side of the room, we moved to the back of the hall, my camera battery died. I COULD NOT SEE HER! I could not see her arms or legs or the expressions on her face,  as she and all her friends sang their hearts out (while mine was sinking). McKenna started screaming. I started sweating.  I resigned to the fact that I was not going to get any pictures or video. I panicked.

And it was over. Who do I complain to! How dare they put my kid in the back row with not enough lighting! don't they have bleachers or something?!   lol....

Oh well, there's always next year :)
