just like that.
McKenna has a cold right now and has been waking up in the night needing to be soothed back to sleep. Last night, around 2 or 3am, I heard her whimpering and went into her room to find her asking for her blankie. I had washed it earlier in the day and it was still in the dryer. I let her know that I would be right back and scurried downstairs.
When I went back into her room, she was laying there waiting patiently for her blankie. I laid it on her and in the tiniest voice she said "turn it over please" (so that the soft side would face up).
And just like that, right there at 3am, it hit me that she is not a baby anymore...

mckenna's 2nd birthday!
on the morning of McKenna's birthday, Kaitlyn was so excited to make her sister a birthday card! She decorated it by herself and it turned out soooo cute - instantly going to the "memory box"!
after all the activity and whirlwind of summer, we decided on a low-key party. Just 2 guests (isn't the old saying 1 guest per each year anyway :) Cousins Ellie and MJ made the party extra special!
Happy Birthday McKenna! Can't wait to see what this year has in store!
how we spent the last of our summer days..
